“You’re dangerous,” he says.
“Why?”
“Because you make me believe in the impossible.”
This book was just plain fun! I enjoyed every single second of reading it. I love the Fuentes brothers and the love and loyalty they have for one another.
Carlos is a huge asshole at first, but that only emphasizes his development into a genuine sweetheart by the end of the book. I adore how easily Kiara could get under Carlos's skin. She is perfectly calm and composed while he would be huffing and puffing away at her, and their interactions always made me smile. But it goes both ways, and Carlos pushed Kiara's limits and broke down her walls and helped her become more confident with the way she is.
On the outside, Carlos is a tough jerk who doesn’t let anyone get close to him. But when I get little glimpses of his hidden warmth and compassion, I feel that inner wall of mine start to crumble.
There is plenty of Alex in this book too. I love the interaction between him and Brittany and it's wonderful seeing how well they've developed into a loving couple since Perfect Chemistry. They still have a few problems to sort out, but the love and trust they have shines through no matter what.
I love love love Tuck! He's my favorite character, maybe even before Kiara and Carlos. He's hilarious and loyal, two traits I never got enough of in this book.
"Tuck walks in with a big vase filled with hot pink carnations and a balloon attached that reads FIFTY PERCENT OF ALL DOCTORS GRADUATE IN THE BOTTOM HALF OF THEIR CLASS—HOPE YOUR SURGERY WENT WELL!"
"Okay, seriously, I dont know if this is true or not, but I heard people who use profanity are trying to compensate for their lack of you know... size."
Elkeles's writing is simply wonderful. Her books have some of the best character development I have ever come across. She effortlessly turned a stuttering, shy wallflower into a strong, confident heroine, and a rude, vulgar gangster into a complete gentleman.
I'm so glad this book had an epilogue. I wish most, if not all, books had epilogues, especially sweet and perfect ones like at the end of Rules of Attraction. I hope there's a series starring Carlos and Kiaras' three daughters.
